The Cavadee festival in St André

Cavadee is a Hindu festival celebrated by the island’s Tamil population. This event is hugely colourful, dominated by pink, the colour of the Hindu God Muruga. The ceremony’s finale comes with a procession of the penitent followers covered in ritual body piercings in order to purify their souls.
