The CléVacances label clearly defines quality furnished accommodation. Their location varies: down by the turquoise lagoon in the west, slightly further up with horizon views, in the cooler climes of the hills or tucked away in the lush vegetation off the beaten track - the choice is yours.
Hospitable landlords attentive to their guests’ needs have sought to obtain this label, a real guarantee of independence to make your holiday a complete success.
The ‘Gîtes de France’ Label
Guesthouses and rural hostels with classifications ranging from 1 to 5 Ears of corn
Created over fifty years ago, the ‘Gîtes de France’ label is Europe’s largest network of guesthouses.
In Reunion, there are:
- 238 guesthouses : bedrooms with private bathrooms in family homes with classifications ranging from 1 to 4 Ears of corn from €20 per person per night including breakfast
- 92 rural hostels: independent houses, furnished and equipped with classifications ranging from 2 to 4 Ears of corn. These can be rented by the week, weekend or short stay and cost from €15 per person per night (for a house for 4 people)
- 28 host’s tables and 5 rural host’s tables : you can book a meal with the farmers themselves and enjoy traditional meals with home-grown produce, from €17 per person (all included)
- 7 stopover hostels : these have considerable capacity suitable for large groups and hikers, from €15 per person per night
In Reunion, the ‘Gîtes de France’ label represents conviviality, warm conversation and a sharing of traditions with the locals. The ‘Gîtes de France’ label guarantees quality service, a warm welcome and enriching contact with the Reunionese population.
Objectives:
- to focus on providing tourists with the best conditions of service and comfort,
- to satisfy the demands and needs of tourists looking specifically for authenticity, conviviality, nature, peace and quiet, new experiences and wide open spaces,
- to contribute to the promotion and preservation of the local heritage and environment, especially in rural areas,
- to be involved in local development and contribute by bringing in extra revenue to rural populations
Guesthouses and rural hostels are evaluated every five years, verifying the setting and the standards of comfort and service.
The classification system of ‘Gîtes de France’ guesthouses
: Single Rooms
: Comfortable rooms with private toilet or bathroom.
: Very comfortable rooms with comprehensive private bathrooms (shower, bath, sink and toilet). : Luxury rooms with comprehensive private bathrooms. Often located in plush settings of stately homes, with extra services on offer if required.
The classification system of ‘Gîtes de France’ rural hostels (holiday rentals)
: Garden and furnished veranda, one bathroom and toilet when up to 6 people, an extra bathroom when 7 or more, oven or mini-stove, hotplates, rice cooker, fridge, kitchen utensils and basic cleaning products, iron and high chairs on request. : In addition to the 1st Ear of Corn, there is a barbecue (unless locally restricted) washing machine when more than 6 people, food blender, coffee machine, TV aerial, bedding, tablecloths and towels on request*. : In addition to the 2nd Ear of corn, there is independent access and private garden, 2 toilets when more than 7 people, washing-machine, dishwasher when more than 5 people*, oven, colour TV*, telephone* and cleaning service on request. : In addition to the 3rd Ear of corn, you have: a house with charm, high quality interior design and decoration, log fire with chimney (unless locally restricted), microwave oven, fridge with freezer compartment and tumble-drier when more than 6 people. : In addition to the 4th Ear of corn, you have: a private park or landscaped garden, leisure facilities on offer (such as tennis court, swimming pool, sauna or jacuzzi) garage or car shelter; and when more than 3 people, there is a dishwasher, tumble-drier, stereo and video/dvd player.
*by special dispensation, these services or equipment may not be on offer in some establishment; in this case you will be notified at the moment of booking.
