Reunionese tourism has its own quality charter, called ‘Réunion Qualité Tourisme’. This label has managed to attract over a hundred members since 1996, from the largest hotels right down to trekking guides. The criteria for joining are strict: a quality organization and service, competent staff, hygiene and comfort, environmentally-friendly and excellent customer care…
Any professionals accepted into the Réunion Qualité Tourisme charter are the responsibility of the Reunion Island Tourist Board and are subject to regular checks and audits.
Réunion Qualité Tourisme encourages the holiday experts to continually provide you with an outstanding level of service!
Reunion is also keen to affirm its commitment to discrimination against homosexuals.
A large number of tourist companies have already signed Reunion’s Gay Friendly Charter, which states:
“In light of the multiple origins of Reunion’s society, its ethnic multiplicity, its cultural diversity, which naturally promote tolerance, open-mindedness and reciprocal personal enrichment…
In light of the fact that, despite the progress made, homophobia is still a reality and that concrete measures need to be taken to improve the possibilities for integration and personal fulfillment for the LGBT community (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transsexuals)…
In light of the professionalism, service and quality provided which naturally require an awareness of the specific expectations of our LGBT clientele, we, the Reunion Island Tourist Board and our various partners hereby wish to:
- reaffirm our commitment to the principles of non-discrimination
- specifically affirm our refusal to discriminate towards people of the LGBT community”
