Plantation Mélissa in Saint-Benoît produces flowers, green plants and fruits. If you’re exploring the East region of the island, a visit to the plantation is a great opportunity to acquaint yourself with such tropical flowers as red ginger lilies, alpinias, heliconias and a host of other tropical blooms and green plants, as well as to sample the orchard’s seasonal fruits, including pineapples, passion fruit, bananas, lychees, longans and starfruit. The visit will also give you a chance to discover a wide range of fruit trees, including papaya, jackfruit and cherimoya. Visits are guided by the farmers themselves and are upon reservation only. The plantation has an online shop, with bouquets of flowers and parcels of seasonal fruit available throughout the year, and also organises flower-arrangement workshops. It has a stall at Saint-Paul’s fairground market every Friday. Tropical flower bouquets from €59, delivered anywhere on La Réunion.
