Vanilla - flower of Saint-André's cultural life, a magic orchid leading you down the path to flavour.
Mr Roulof, owner of the Plantation de la Vanille in Saint-André, has been planting and harvesting vanilla since he was old enough to work. During guided visits to his farm, he will be pleased to share his experience, and the tradition of growing the vanilla orchid. Every stage in its cultivation is presented, from planting to marketing, via harvesting and casing of pods in the workshop. Plantation de La Vanille belongs to the “Bienvenue à La Ferme” network. Guided visits in the morning at 11 a.m. and in the afternoon at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Duration of visit: 1 hour. Closed on Sundays.
WegbeschreibungFrom Roland Garros Airport, take the expressway to Saint-Benoît and turn off at the slip road to Saint André Centre. Turn right at the first intersection and continue straight on for about 1 km, until you get to the “‘Ti Bazar” Indian temple on the left. Drive on for about 300 metres past the temple until you get to Rue Deschanets on the left. There is a little Indian temple at the beginning of Rue Deschanets. Plantation de la Vanille is right at the end of the street on the right, at number 470.
