Maison Folio     

The Maison Folio is also known as the Villa Folio. The house and its gardens have been taken over by the Folio family. The visite de la Maison is a genuine journey back in time, to an era when the leading Creole families of the island left the heat of coastal areas to go and rest in the cool uplands in charming little Creole houses with a refined style. The garden symbolises “the art of Creole living”, with its guétali, its fountain, and its walkways laid with old stones. A walk in the garden takes you on a journey through exotic smells through fragranced, aromatic, and medicinal plants: geranium, vetiver, patchouli, turmeric, citronella, allspice, etc. One of the outbuildings houses a small exhibition of items common to the era as well as local handicrafts. Free entry for children aged under 10. Open from Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
